'Hyrdanar X Goulosha' is also known as the following 'PI 594967, DPUN 18, and BE 7657'.
This cultivar was developed, and test grown in Russia at the 'Turkmenistan Experimental Station of Plant Genetic Resources, Garrygala'. It's a hybrid cross made between 'Chico' (a dwarfed cultivar of pomegranate found in America), and the cultivar 'Goulosha' (which originated from Adzerbaidjan).
'Hyrdanar X Goulosha' was brought in to the USA 'by the University of California' on 'September 8th 1995'.
This cultivar is 'considered an ornamental', because it's a 'cute looking Semi-dwarfed cultivar, that 'reaches 3 to 5 feet in height', 'that by nature grows single trunked', 'single trunked is very rare when it comes to pomegranate cultivars'. This cultivar is easier to keep potted than most other cultivars of pomegranate, making it feel even more ornamental.
What does not feel ornamental about this cultivar is seeing such a small tree with medium to large sized pomegranates hanging off of it, as well as the simple flowers that turn in to that fruit.
This cultivar was developed for planting in high density, and it has a fruit rot resistance that appears to be higher than the average.
The skin of it's fruit is a nice crimson color.
The Arils are whitish, turning pinkish as the fruit ripens, the fruit were somewhat sweet, yet on the acidic/sour side, fruit had a nice overall taste. The seeds are hard. Fruit may have not been ripe enough, or the fruit may just be better for making sweetened products like 'pomegranate molasses', 'like pies', 'like jellies', 'like jam, and like 'fruit nectar'.
This cultivar is high production, It's fruit Ripens in October.
This cultivar has early flowering, those flowers are 'deep red flowers'.
