Hadoulis F White ('Elegant Berry, Adriatic Berry' flavor fig)

This cultivar was brought in to the fig community by 'Figs4Life' of the former Figs4Fun forum, he's 'George' from 'Queens New York City'. 'Hadoulis F White' is a unknown fig cultivar originating from somewhere in 'Greece'. It's name is sometimes abbreviated 'HF White'. 'Hadoulis F White' has mostly 'three lobed leaves', and it's vegetation grows like a weed.

The skin color of it's medium sized figs is 'Green', and that skin is thin. The flavor of it's 'deep red flesh' is of the 'Adriatic Berry type', it's flavor is said to be 'top tier', sweet, and to be mouth dropping with an aftertaste! The seeds of it's fruit are crunchy. The eye of it's fruit is tight, and drips honey.

This cultivar requires a lot of sunlight, this cultivar might night not crop early enough for some locations, it crops two times a year if the season is long enough 'where it's planted'. In some climates the figs of this cultivar splits! As with most fig cultivars distributed these days, this fig tree is self productive, it does not need the fig wasp to produce. Some people say that this cultivar is a low producer.

This very cold hardy cultivar was a poorly known NYC heirloom for about 15 years, sadly the tree died at about 15 years old, at about 12 feet tall, with about a 12 inch thickness across the trunk. The arctic vortex of January - March 2014 is what killed the fig tree! The tree had survived much colder in the past 'so this was a big surprise', the very unusual arctic vortex conditions in NYC that year 'was too much for it'.
