'Entek Habi Saveh', it is also called 'Iran 8', 'DPUN 79', 'Entekhabi Saveh', 'UF 12', 'PI 483100')

'Entek Habi Saveh' is said to have originally been from the 'Saveh valley of Iran'.

This cultivar was test grown in Iran at the 'Cochran, L.C. Safiabad Research Center', that 'Research Center' collected a cutting of 'Entek Habi Saveh' for their experiments on 'February 28th 1976', that cutting was collected from somewhere in the 'Iran', most likely from a farmers field 'since it was a cultivated cultivar at the time'.

That 'Research Center' donated cuttings of 'Entek Habi Saveh' which were imported to the USA 'by the USDA' on January 1982. Every cultivar that the 'Research Center' helped to import to the USA was labeled as an Iranian pomegranate.

This cultivar can reach about 9 3/4 feet in height/about 6 1/2 feet in width, is very resistant to drought.

'Entek habi Saveh' is said to be more cold hardy than Salavatski. It can survive as cold as '-9.4 degrees Fahrenheit' ('-23 Celsius') but with severe damage. Hardy down to '-6 degrees Fahrenheit without freezeback' ('-21 Celsius'), yet it appears to be late frost sensitive, it resists going dormant longer than many of the other cold hardy cultivars, it's possibly a dormant resistant cultivar.

The peel of it's fruits are yellow, with orange-red, as well as with brown.

It's fruits are small to large. The color of it's arils is transparent pearl, with 'light red to red'. The flesh has a rich texture, it's taste is sweet, yet slightly tart. The small seeds of this cultivar are hard. It's fruit is not resistant to cracking. It's fruit starts to mature end of September - beginning of October. It's fruit seems to have a sensitivity that causes it's fruit to sunburn. This cultivar is high production.

This cultivar flowers from May to June.
